Tournament Training Program
With this program, we are committed to preparing our students to compete, both physically and mentally. We have incorporated ideas, tactics and philosophies from the South, from academies that gave us Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Jim Courier, as well as many others. We provide intense on-court rotations so players can focus on every aspect of the game. A backhand court is included, in order to develop the backhand side, thereby eliminating it as a potential weakness. We are also providing on-court footwork drills inspired by Pat Etcheberry, who trained Justine Henin and Pete Sampras to #1 in the world. To top everything off, all students will have a 20 minute fitness rotation in each class, incorporating tennis-specific exercises.
We strongly recommend that our players commit to at least two hours twice a week as a means to develop USTA nationally and sectionally ranked players.
Space is limited. We strive to keep the court ratio 4:1 to enhance each player’s experience. Every player is subject to evaluation and must come ready to play hard every day. Groups will be based on age as well as ability.
Tennis-Specific Training
An exciting new opportunity is available at Centercourt Athletic Club. Starting January 1, 2010, Matt Rizzuto will be offering tennis-specific training sessions for players looking to take their game to the next level. Classes will be held one-on-one or in a group format. Training sessions will include agility, speed work, weight room workouts, and much more. The programs will be based on the teachings and ideas of world-renowned tennis coach, Pat Etcheberry. Etcheberry is known for working with Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Justine Henin, and Jennifer Capriati, as well as many other top ranked tennis professionals. Since tennis is an intense game of speed, endurance, strength and technique, training is a crucial element for a top player’s success. Matt is looking to train individuals who are willing to work hard to develop dynamic athletic skills in order to reach their goal of playing tennis at the highest level.
